Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains what data Fire Door Marshal collects, why, and what your rights are. It covers the Fire Door Marshal mobile app on iOS and Android, and this website.

Who we are

Fire Door Marshal is operated by e-hoster.co.uk Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. e-hoster.co.uk Ltd is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. For any privacy questions, contact james@firedoormarshal.com.

What we collect

When you create an account and use the app, we collect:

• Your email address, so we can identify your account and let you sign in.
• Your password, stored as a one-way hash by our authentication provider. We never see your actual password.
• The fire door inspection data you create: site names and addresses, door identifiers, inspection findings, and photos you take during inspections.
• Your subscription status, if you subscribe to Fire Door Marshal Pro. We record whether your subscription is active so the app knows which features to enable.
• Crash and diagnostic data, automatically collected when the app encounters an error. This includes the type of error, what the app was doing, and your user ID so we can correlate reports. It does not include the contents of your inspections.

We do not collect your name, phone number, location, contacts, browsing history, advertising identifiers, or any data we don't need to run the app.

Why we collect it

• Account data (email, password) — to let you sign in and keep your data tied to your account.
• Inspection data — this is the data you create using the app. We store it so you can access it across devices (Pro) or restore it if you reinstall.
• Subscription status — to know whether to unlock Pro features.
• Crash diagnostics — to find and fix bugs.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your data. We don't share it for advertising. We use the following service providers to actually run the app, and your data passes through them:

• Supabase (database and authentication) — stores your account and inspection data.
• PowerSync (sync layer) — syncs data between your device and Supabase for Pro users.
• RevenueCat (subscription management) — handles subscription state. RevenueCat receives a pseudonymous user ID and your subscription events, not your email or inspection data.
• Apple App Store and Google Play Store — handle the actual payment when you subscribe. We never see your card details. Apple and Google each have their own privacy policies governing payment data.
• Sentry (crash reporting) — receives crash reports tagged with your user ID. Inspection content is not sent.

All data in transit is encrypted using TLS. All data at rest is encrypted by the underlying providers.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and inspection data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your data within 30 days. Backups may retain data for up to 90 days before being overwritten.

Crash diagnostics are retained for 90 days.

Your rights

If you are in the UK or EU, the UK GDPR and EU GDPR give you the right to:

• Access the data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Have your data deleted
• Object to or restrict processing
• Receive your data in a portable format
• Lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (the ICO in the UK)

To exercise any of these, email james@firedoormarshal.com and we'll respond within 30 days.

If you are in California, the CCPA gives you similar rights, including the right to know what we collect and the right to deletion. We do not sell personal information.

Deleting your account and data

You can request deletion of your Fire Door Marshal account and all associated data at any time. To do so, email james@firedoormarshal.com from the address associated with your account, with the subject line "Account deletion request".

We will delete the following within 30 days of your request:

• Your account (email address and authentication record)
• All sites, doors, inspections, and photos you have created
• Your subscription history held by us (your purchase record with Apple or Google remains subject to their own retention policies)

Backups containing your data may persist for up to 90 days before being overwritten. Crash diagnostics tied to your user ID are retained for 90 days and then automatically expire.

If you only want to cancel your Pro subscription without deleting your account, you can do so directly from the App Store (iOS) or Play Store (Android) — there is no need to email us.

Children

Fire Door Marshal is a professional tool and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If the changes are material, we'll notify you in-app or by email before they take effect.
